MADE: In His Image, After His Likeness, For His Glory

Have you ever thought about the way you were Made?

We so often look at labels to find out more information about a product: the nutrition label, our clothes label. We want to know! What is the stuff that makes this thing what it is! ... and better yet, what is it?!

We don't come with a label! The answer isn't as readily apparent, and I think our world has us fall into the trap of noticing the things that we put on or into our bodies more than encouraging the idea of contemplating our very selves.

Socrates so famously said, "Know Thyself!"

So I ask you, how were you Made? More specifically, what were you Made for? Why were you Made? And who are YOU?

I'm going to spend the next several reflections going through the who, when, where, why and how of this matter in order to invite you in to the contemplation as well. The answers I will bring I have found through my own wrestling with my Catholic faith, but I know they are just the tip of the iceberg and I want to invite you into the conversation as well. I'm going to bring in the Catechism, Scripture, my own conclusions and poetry, to help illumine how I've come to understand the beauty, complexity, dignity and magnanimity of the human person who is YOU, who is ME, and I hope that together we can all begin to marvel at the wonder of our Creator through the magnificence of His creation.

Have a wonderful weekend.

God Bless,

Nora
